72hr inspection rule for sanitaryware consumer

I want to ask this before I email the company involved.
I purchased a compact wall hung cupboard and a sink for downstairs cloakroom.
This arrived on Wednesday.
I looked inside the boxes and couldn't see anything that was obvious to me, ((I didnt take anything out of the boxes, just opened them to see if they were the correct items i had ordered), but when my husband was going to install this today (Sunday) (96hrs later), he has noticed that the hole where the tap is attached, has a crack in it from underneath and can also be seen half way up towards the top of the sink. (You cant see this from just looking above It.
ON CLOSER INSPECTION OUT OF THE BOX, it looks like, when the sink had its first firing that the manufacturer put a "slip" around the crack, then it was glazed and 2nd fired. I would not have noticed this damage myself until my husband pointed it out to me. I didn't even take out the invoice until today. And the manufacturers quality control should have rejected this.
I attach pictures.
The supplier states...
**ANY DAMAGE OR SHOTAGE OF ITMS MUST BE REPORTED WITHIN 72HRS TO BE VALIDATED. PHOTOS REQUIRED**
This isn't a damage in transit issue, but a manufacturing one. Do I still have any rights to get this replaced after the in8tial 72hr notification period?. Please advise

This isn't a damage in transit issue, but a manufacturing one.Correct. Thank them for their response, make it clear the item is not damaged, or short. But faulty, a fault inherent from the point of manufacture. Send them the photographs anyway, you can see that something has gone a bit wrong and has been "patched up" -- clearly not quite well enough.Don't get distracted too much by any "warranty", or "terms and conditions" smoke-screen. This is a consumer rights issue -- and they can't REMOVE your consumer rights, only add to them.It is up to them to prove it isn't inherently faulty -- as this is all within the first 6 months after purchase.0 -
Thats not a crack - its a manufacturing defect, so report it as so - they should replace without a problem (the 72hrs rule is because the couriers have rules on claims windows for cheaper rates).1

How did this ever get past quality control?1
