Cat flap in an external wall

We are having one of our external doors bricked up, and would like to install a cat flap through the wall. I'm struggling to find much information on how you achieve this and what you need to purchase.
It is a case of buying a cat flap with two halves, and then creating some sort of tunnel through the wall? Can you buy such cat flaps with tunnels included?

You certainly can - there are dozens of different makes available online, in pet shops, probably a lot of the DIY sheds. It's not an uncommon requirement and plenty of manufacturers cater for it.Leard91 said:Can you buy such cat flaps with tunnels included?

Having had a larger than usual cat at one point (not the breed, just really fat) do be sure that you make the thing large enough. It's not as easy as a cat flap being forced out of a door by a rotund puss should it be a tight fit.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. I've just had a quick look online. Amazon sells loads of different kits with the tunnel included, B&Q seem to sell standard catflaps with tunnels available separately - I'm sure there are many retailers that sell similar things So yes you're absolutely right - if you've already got a catflap then you could just buy the tunnel to extend it.flo22 said:When I did this I bought the extension tunnel for the make of catflap I was buying

Might be a bit of a jump for the poor fat cat if it were... maybe they can share the spoils thoughLightFlare said:https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6528735/how-to-fill-old-vent-hole-in-external-wall#latest

Your cat may not accept it.
A conventional cat flap in a glass panel enables the cat to see what is going on outside - eg other cats with whom yours doesn't get on with.
We don't have cat flaps for our two - instead we have an open bathroom window. Often hear a little squeak -"going out for a while" - followed by another squeak - "I'm back, go back to sleep".Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0
