Orange PAYG - GPRS
I now have a Nokia 7250i which was given to me by a friend (she has the new Razr).
Have put my sim card in and it works fine but unable to access GPRS.
As this is new to me I looked on orange website and phoned customer services who said I needed a new sim card (which I bought for £1, delivered!).
Reading through the booklet that came with the sim card (have not activated it yet) it mentions something about £4 for GPRS services and that I need to get in touch with Orange (again).
Before I commit myself, does this mean I have to pay £4 up front just to access GPRS and does it only last for 1 month? Can't I just get it activated and pay as and when I use it (which is likely to be once in a blue moon)?
Was the purchase of the new sim card necessary?

I wouldn't have thought the new simcard was necessary as I am still using the same Orange sim I have had for years and have tried this service.
If you call Orange to activate the sim you can also ask to trial the service for free. I was offered the free trial when I phoned to check the WAP settings for my phone as it had been set for Virgin.
When they say its £4 a month, that is not quite true as there is a limit to how much you download and once you exceed that in the month you will then be paying for each call. I wrongly assumed that I had this free trial for a month as the 4mb limit hadn't been pointed out.
You can read more about it here on the Orange website. Having trialed it I quickly realised I wouldn't actually use it0 -
Thans for that but I rang Customer Services asking them to give me access which is when they told me I needed a new Sim.
All I want to do is to be able to download ringtones and perhaps send a photo once in a blue moon. I also want to activate infrared to download from my PC but it won't access that either.
Any ideas (I have set up the phone as instructed BTW).There is always light within the dark0 -
see the sim you paid £1 for just regiestered it and put it in the phone and thats you sorted. When you are reg. it ask for 'Try world' to put on. This will give you £12 free to use.
Also you can use GPRS on a PAG bases, or you can prepay for a bundle. every time you want a bundle you have to add it0
