Thank you for that. I never actually thought about writing to the CE. I'm not sure but i might even have written to the complaints department way back but, saadly i didn't keep full copies of letters.
i did get a reply acknowledging of receipt my Subject Access Request. If they have copies of my correspondence, even though my pension has been rebuilt, I intend to complain to the pension ombudsman.
The burden of proof shouldn't be placed on staff to show each single pay slip. The hospital is responsible to ensure the records are kept up to date, and payments are paid. So that is Moorfields fault.
Secondly the NHSBA gave me some wrong information to request from HMRC.
And Thirdly, the time, stress, and the idea of just saying,"I'll give up, it cant be that much" is quite significant.IMHO.
They have about another 3 weeks to reply.
I think what makes this even worse, was i even gave them self addressed envelopes and they couldnt even be bothered to acknowledge any communication let alone reply to my request or even guide me on who to contact.
So "sod it" it's my turn to d7ck them around. I know i shoudnt say that but, it certainly felt as though they did more to me. Thank you for your advice.
I wonder. surely they must have some knowledge on how long it takes to reply, to peoples requests previously and from their experience?
Just to say "i dont know" appears like obfuscation.
Good luck with your pension stuff. I hope it works out.

@Purplelady65 That’s interesting - I received a pension input amount statement for that year, followed by a letter telling me it was incorrect and I would received a revised version shortly. I’m still waiting… luckily, I wasn’t holding my breath.

Update:
I requested a SAR from my hospital, but they have now gone beyond the one-month deadline without any response or request for an extension. I have followed up with a further 7-day final notice in an attempt to move matters forward from the hospital side.
I have written to them previously, so they are clearly aware of the issue and must have discussed it internally, but so far they have chosen not to reply.
Regarding NHS Business Services Authority, I have now received an apology and an offer of £500 compensation. I am still considering whether this properly reflects the time, stress, and frustration involved, particularly around the repeated uncertainty over whether I had received a refund or not, and the serious consideration of giving up.
It feels unreasonable to be expected to prove pension contributions from 26 years ago, and realistically, who keeps payslips for that length of time? In my case, I was fortunate to have one surviving payslip showing pension deductions.
To me, this feels like a near miss. Had I not started investigating this years before retirement, and had I not been able to produce that payslip, the outcome could have been very different.
Also had I not started 5 years before my pensionable date, this would have continued well beyond my pensionable age date of 60. and i don't think many people start to get their pension in order 5 years before their pension is due.
My next step is to submit a SAR directly to NHSBSA to obtain the full records they hold.

Update.
NHSBSA has reconstructed my Pension. And I thought that maybe that's not enough. So I pushed back and they offered me £500 ex gratia payment. But does £500 truly reflect the time, doubt, worry and obfuscation from the NHS trust and the burden on me to prove I was a member? aswell as giving up and restarting again.
As of today, the hospital has still not responded to my SAR request and they have ignored the 7 days extension. I called, and I was initially put through to the patients' SAR request department, which was incorrect, and then transferred, where I was then cut off, or forwarded to an answering machine, several times.
HR seem very hard to get hold of.
I have written a registered letter to the CEO, saying that the maladministration is still going on, my SAR request and extension are being ignored, and a copy was forwarded to the I.G department.
So where am i now. Well, nothing from the NHS trust.
I have filed a complaint to the Information Commissioner's Office.
I am waiting for my SAR report from NHBSA pensions, just incase they have any communication from my Trust.
I am putting together a timeline and evidence for the pensions ombudsman.
So that's where we are at the moment.
I have also let the other nurses who were employed at the same time as i was, to check their NHS pension is up to date, just in case this was more prevalent.
