I opened the fixed bond with Smart save, went to transfer funds in Barclays messed up the transfer then locked my account for fraud? The account Smart save operates isa Barclays sort code account number. Speaking with Barclays fraud team they've never heard of Smart save. Advised its might be a scam. Even though they messed up my transfer money is now in limbo. Who uses Smart save and why are Barclay so incompetent at the basics of banking.

The fact that Smart Save is a Barclays client who uses one of their accounts as an intermediary for funding their products doesn't mean that Barclays will be able to discuss it with you, and there's no particular reason for Barclays staff to have heard of Smart Save.2

SmartSave is a trading name of Chetwood Financial Limited,
Bank staff will have no idea who many companies are, especially when they are using a brand name, rather than their actual trading name.
How did Barclays mess up the transfer?Life in the slow lane0 -
you have a reference number to include with the transfer. A member of Barclays complaints team entered the wrong reference number even though we checked it and double checked it they still added digits which caused it to fail.0

The fraud team hadn't heard of any of the names they go by. They advised possible scam.eskbanker said:The fact that Smart Save is a Barclays client who uses one of their accounts as an intermediary for funding their products doesn't mean that Barclays will be able to discuss it with you, and there's no particular reason for Barclays staff to have heard of Smart Save.0 -

I tried online but kept getting error messages. I tried on the app and that never worked so I complained, You only have a few days to transfer in and Barclays were unable to clear the errors & they did the transfer.Barkin said:

As above, there's no reason for them to have heard of every destination that customers will legitimately send money to, although the fact that funds are routed via an intermediary, thereby failing the Confirmation of Payee check, is a generic red flag, which perhaps explains a standard boilerplate opinion that this signifies a potential scam.toymotor said:

It dont give you confidence in them does it.Given they were prepared to send the money on your behalf and got the reference wrong, despite you checking it carefully with them, there doesn't appear to be a good reason why they couldn't have avoided this by letting through a transfer you had initiated with the correct reference.Personally I don't like giving details like this over the phone for this very reason.1
