Just make sure the car remains the property of your relatives until after it arrives at your house.
For a gift that is going to be hard to evidence when ownership truly transferred given the OP has already stated its being committed as a gift and so its not like they've been told they can borrow it and when offering to return it in 6 months time the original owner surprises them saying they can keep it.
If they do online transfer of ownership. It's not, as it's instant.
If they chuck it in the post, well thats different.

Could be best to give OP whole V5 & let them transfer ownership online once home & they can sorn it as well.

Registered keeper.  There is no register of ownership of cars in the UK.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

Thanks for the info guys appreciated.
My Dad is also on the family members insurance as a named driver so he will be driving the car to me. Then it will be SORNd etc and off road.

    Thanks

There is no register of ownership @born_again only Registered Keeper but the terms of DoC are on ownership not who is the keeper.

Then borrow it for a couple of days until your relative decides he no longer wants it and gives it to you.

This is the best option, because it'll be fully insured too.
