PIP delays and Blue Badge

Hello, I sent my renewal paperwork in beginning of December, all confirmed that they received it etc. Since then nothing at all. My PIp award runs out the beginning of July, as will my Blue Badge as that's based on my award.

I'm reading horror stories of delays, does anyone know what happens if they haven't done the assessment and begining of July passes? Seems I can't renew my badge without the letter which will affect my work as can't park near the office without it. When I tried calling PIP they couldn't give me an update.

Complete shambles, never had a delay in reassessments previously. Has anyone passed their assessment deadline without a decision?

Thank you

When I have to replace my BB it's been done a month before old one expires, so you should be able to do yours in June.

Yes but my pip award ends July so don't think I can apply for a new one as wouldn't have an award letter (crazy, not like the metal in me will have disappeared)?  :)

They should extend your award by a year when around 35 days left of award... they will send letter. (This has been in place for well over a year precisely because of the problems of review delays affecting qualification for other things like Blue Badge - it is a shame PIP didn't tell you this when you contacted them for an update). That should enable you to get blue badge - different local authorities may treat the letter (+Statement of Entitlement) differently as mine saw the year extension and gave me a 3 year Blue Badge on assumption my PIP would be reviewed and awarded for at least 3 years again. Contact DWP when around 4 weeks of award left if you have not gotten a review decision or extension letter.

If your award is extended by a year then the review decision will replace it when made. If they cannot complete review during the year extension they should extend again. In my case I got the year extension, sorted my Blue Badge that relied on PIP award and Bus Pass that relied on Blue Badge award all easily within time before they expired. I got a review decision around 3/4 months later if my memory serves me well.

My PIP also ends at the end of June as does my BB and I sent my form back about the same time as you and received a text to say they received it and another text 5 weeks ago to say they will process it as soon as they can. Heard nothing since. When I receive the letter saying it's been extended I will use that to renew my BB.

Try going direct to local council for BB.
That is how we do ours for Mrs, even though she gets PIP.

We sorted BB before PIP made their decision.

This is how I got my original Blue Badge, before I applied for PIP.
Obviously you run the risk of needing to be assessed but as I could only get to our garden gate at the time (oh those halcyon days!  Little did I know … ) I was fortunate they believed me and awarded without one.

Thanks, I will look into it. Sadly I just stopped working for that local authority otherwise I would have gone to their office to ask :)
