RTS Switch Off Meter Query

That's encouraging, but there's one more unit I have, it's on the wall outside the boiler, this is the switch that's always on for the hot water. Would this be anything to do with a possible RTS connection....?

No, that's the immersion heater timer. I have the same model.Peechy69 said:That's encouraging, but there's one more unit I have, it's on the wall outside the boiler, this is the switch that's always on for the hot water. Would this be anything to do with a possible RTS connection....?

Brilliant!! Thank you so much Stripe and BarelySentientAI - you've both put my mind at easeSwipe said:

Absolutely correct. As far as the supply is concerned, that's just the same as a lightswitch.Swipe said:

Just confirmed it's a 5-terminal, 3 reds and 2 black cables coming out of the meter - yay!BarelySentientAI said:That's a junction box (often called a Henley block). Makes sense.
If there's nothing else, then it must be the 5-terminal version of the meter (which has a timer built in). Didn't look like that from your earlier photographs (or the first wiring diagram I found), but there is one. You can check that, if each of the cables coming out of the bottom of the meter come out of a different hole then it's the 5-terminal.
That means that your system is not RTS at all.2 -
That actually looks like a 5 port meter - the feed to the grey CU box below looks like its forward of the other meter tails (a not uncommon physical tail arrangement - but others are simply 5 in line) - being given the restricted time supply.Peechy69 said:Here's a pic of the meter as requested.
So if so that CU will be for hw immersion and night storage type heating or even some aga etc)
The govt certification certificate I found shows terminal arrangements for both 4 and 5 port versions.
It makes no reference to RTS timing or preset etc - its not a full spec just a certification certificate.
And the EDF prepay key manual for it shows how to read both a single rate and dual rate e7 version - so one or 2 active registers.
Would need an actual ltron / actaris etc manual or data sheet I suspect to be sure.
Assuming the red meter tail possibly from the 4th port running horizontally behind the neutrals labelled 2 etc - is actually connected to the meter.
It's a bad photo of meter bottom and colour contrast to tell for sure but you can just make out itbturing upwards - albeit a tight bend radius.
It's not impossible that a single block meter has RTS fixed or variable timing functionality - some 3 rate sse rts meters were single unit iirc.
but it's far more likely to be fixed preset timing given its a fairly modern device and plans for rts been on way out for several years.
Anyone got a meter spec link ?

That's an immersion hw heater timer with optional peak rate boost - do you have 2 tank elements or one ?Peechy69 said:That's encouraging, but there's one more unit I have, it's on the wall outside the boiler, this is the switch that's always on for the hot water. Nothing to do with RTS at all.1 -
Hi Scot, my query has been resolved, but just for info, I have 2 tank elements because I have an open fire that heats one of themScot_39 said:

Mine is definitely a RTS and I am being hounded to get it upgraded. Unfortunately my existing supplier can only supply a new meter that has E7 times of 12.15 to 7.15 whereas my existing is 1pm to 8pm much better times for me.Will they extend RTS beyond June 2025.Thank you.0
