It’s perhaps worth mentioning that lots of people out there are perfectly honest. We tend to hear of the problem cases. Nobody comes on here to post that their sale went through perfectly well, without any problems!
Incidentally, I had a suspicious buyer, and you all warned that he was probably a scammer. The transaction went smoothly. It depends a bit on what you are selling?
My worst experience was with a £50 car radio for a Fiat Punto that I sold. It turned out that the buyer had a different model of Fiat. The connection plugs look the same but are wired differently, and he destroyed the radio. He complained and ebay just refunded him. My impression is that he could have smashed it up deliberately with a hammer and ebay would still have sided with him.
I refused to refund eBay and closed the account. They then sent me 300 emails threatening to sue me, but they actually did nothing. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?2 -
Now my lawnmower has been collected. Fortunately the engine started from cold at 'first pull' and I cut a bit of grass for him, so he can see it is OK. I got the buyer to give me the 6 digit code and wrote it down on a piece of paper. and I did download the E bay so to attempt to upload the code but I could not see where to do so, so I simply entered the code into a 'feedback note' for the buyer with the time of collection. Many thanks for all contributions0

I sold an item and forgot to do the above, some weeks later I noticed on the browser version of eBay it gave me the option to click on "has this been collected" or words to that effect, there was no need for the code to finalise the transaction in that instance0
