We're having an old knackered concrete drive replaced with tarmac. 64 sq meters. £8K+VAT.

Don't underestimate the amount of soil that will come out of there. Our seemingly flat garden was landscaped last year, about a third of a tennis court size, it took two lorry loads and a large skip to get it flat.

Yup. Looked to do it ourselves with concrete to create an extra parking space.
Even then, it's in excess of £5k plus all the hire and skip costs.

One thing I've learned is that drives are not cheap.

We live in a private road, so can pretty much do as we please. So at least we wouldn't need the £1500 dropped kerb cost.

Dug out 25m² for a new drive. Already a reasonably flat area, but that was some 18t of spoil to get rid of. At a rough guess, the OP would be looking at around 40t of soil for just one parking space. On top of that, a substantial retaining wall is going to be needed.

If a parking space is important to you, I'd look for something else.

Move on with the search, Could easily be 30K, But the big problem is probably getting permission.
