Hi,
I received a letter in January from Dcbl (Direct Collection Bailiffs Ltd) on behalf of National Parking control group, for stopping in an Esso petrol station and allegedly “parking in an area where parking is prohibited”
Although this was the 1st letter I received, it was already stating that I was being fined £170 for an unpaid parking charge!
I used this Petrol station often at the time, infact most days on my way home from work to either refuel or get a coffee. The petrol station is often busy and I can only assume on this day i pulled up somewhere where I wasn’t supposed to while using the shop for a coffee. (5 to 10 mins max)

I read through a lot of information on this forum back in January including the newbies thread.
I have also refreshed myself on it now. (Unfortunately I only have acces to the internet via an iPad or my phone) so I am struggling to find the correct order of things.

I remember reading back in January, that I don’t need to do anything until the letters are being sent from DCB Legal but also that I could complain to the owners to try to get the fine revoked.
I tried to speak to the manager of the petrol station to retract the fine, Which had no effect. He told me that he had no control over the Parking company.
I then sent a Complaint letter to the Esso customer care asking for the fine to be retracted which also had no effect. They told me that the responsible party was MFG (Motorfuel group customer services) And that they had sent my details to them.
I heard nothing back from either party.
I have since received a letter each month from DCBl (Ltd) with escalating intensity, to scare me into paying the fine.
I have now received a letter from DCB Legal……
and although I have spent hours reading through other threads, I’m slightly confused as to what my next step needs to be?
I realise that I am asking something that has no doubt been asked many times before but I genuinely can’t find the correct order of things (maybe due to the iPad)
I really don’t wanna give these blood suckers my money but I feel like I’m going round in circles with the links and threads.
any help on this matter will be much appreciated!!
Thanks in advance.

I have now received a letter from DCB Legal……Good. Now that DCB Legal are involved, you're on your way to getting this sorted. If the correspondence is headed 'Letter Of/Before Claim, please deal with it as per the advice (and template) in the NEWBIES FAQ Announcement, second post. Thereafter, once a County Court claim is raised against you, that second post will go on to advise you further. The Template Defence Announcement will also help. Both the Announcements can be found near the top of the forum thread list, where they stay permanently.Stay with the required process and your case will end up where all similarly handled DCB Legal-led claims do - the DCB Legal Discontinuation thread. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

I would also send a pic of the letter from DCB Legal to MFG (Motorfuel group customer services) and ask them if they realise what the parking operator is doing to ESSO customers with such aggressive litigation threats. Remind them of the earlier complaint and make sure they know this is NOT at a 'legal' stage so their agent can certainly cancel the unfair charge.PRIVATE 'PCN'?
