Options

my husband earns 64k a year before tax is child benefit worked out on net or gross annual income?
and if we are just over the 60k what percentage of tax will we pay?

1% for every £200 over the £60,000 (from April 2024).

    Adjusted net income of,
    £62,000 would be a 10% charge
    £62,190 would be a 10% charge
£62,200 would be an 11% charge

It is your gross total taxable income from all sources less any allowable deductions.

I believe he can put some money towards the pension to reduce it down to 60 to avoid repayments.

Note those aren't the percentages of tax but the percentages of the child ben.

The tax % is the annual child ben/20000. So for instance with 2 children, ann child ben is 2213 so the tax % in the 60-80k range is 2213/20000 = 11.1%. With 4 children 3975/20000 = 19.9%. On top of income tax and NI.
