Shop refuses to refund on faulty Vapes

Morning all

This isn't something that affects me as I don't use them but my local shop (a Premier shop) has a notice up which says & I quote "Please be aware, we do not offer refunds on any vapes even if they are faulty. If you don't like it, don't buy them".

Are they allowed to do this? I know there will be people who use them & they may just go back & say "it's broken" but can they have such a broad sweeping policy?

They can neither have the sign nor take the action they are proposing. Undoubtably there has been a local issue with certain persons causing problems that have led to the sign being put up.

I'd have thought that was quite possibly a criminal offence under The Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 (legislation.gov.uk).

If you - or somebody you know is concerned about this - you should complain to CAB and ask them to pass it on to your local Trading Standards for investigation

It's probably a criminal offence to sell illegal vapes as well (a sizeable proportion are) and that doesn't deter the sellers. Possible reason that the sign is up in the first place as cheap, illegal imports more likely to be faulty.
