managed migration to uc

Options
Hi I applied for univeral credit online yesterday as received my migration letter from tax credits.  I work 25 hours a week and have a disability.  No other benefits in payment but I received tax credits which included the disability element which meant I could still work and receive extra to help out finanacially

Just looking at earnings taper and not taking into account any extra help for disability it looks if I claimed uc my earnings would put me at a nil award.  Can I still get a transitional protection payment with a nil award?

I am due to get my payrise from last year at end of june and a bonus payment in august.  If I get tp and these two payments end my entitlement to uc will I lose tp or if I claim again from next pay day when amount is lower does it link and keep entitlement,  Sorry for it being a bit long winded but seriously been up most of night worry about it and thinking of just cancelling my claim to uc this morning as can not stand the hassle

thanks

Transitional protection should apply because they have asked you to migrate to UC. Your letter they sent should cover this for future use, from your original claim to the switch. So your disability income guarantee will continue within the limits for savings earnings. 25 hrs a week is part time I believe it's 16hrs they allowed so that could reduce it slightly unless they changed that.

no it was awarded through a disadvantage work test.  I met all the conditions to be awarded disability element.  Can not remember for the life of me what is was called.  Had got dla years ago lr mobility but that is just such a hassle.  As I received the disability element and tax credits it allowed me to stay in work and have a bit extra.

Working tax credit because you have a disability, I think it will only be slightly reduced by the 16hr rule but you would be covered by the letter they asked you so you shouldn't see a loss or technically be worse off working 9 hrs above the 16hrs limit. Visit your Citizens Advice or phone to see if they can confirm your situation.

have completed my claim for uc online yesterday and notated disability.  They have talked about a fit note but not sure if I need this as I work..it is all a bit confusing.  The question on application regarding capability asks due to your disability does this stop you from looking for work but my gp always says that part of my coping is to be out amongst people and the few hours a day is thearputic so I do want to work but not sure how to go about getting extra allowance for wages

No you shouldn't need a fit note the letter asking you to move will cover it. So it's years ago since you was assessed for working tax credits disability element. Do you still have any letters or confirmation of that decision.

Fit notes work two ways - the usual is what your not fit to do - eg if your weren't working.  But it can also be used for limited work patterns eg. if you cant work more than x hours a day because of illness/injury/disability.

yes because I had to lodge an appeal because tax credits kept telling me that I was not entitled but I tried to tell them about the disadvantage test.  So lodged an appeal with cab help and before it went to appeal it was reviewed and allowed.  I never throw out any of the paperwork so should be available after a search i required.
