TfL Late representative

Hi,
I appealed a PCN for entering a box junction on a red route. As the car in front had acted dangerously, I had no choice but to stop so I appealed and requested additional photos leading up and more of the junction. I then didn't hear anything until I received a charge certificate with the penalty increasing by 50%. I go to TfL website to find out the appeal had been rejected. I can carry on and go for late representation but they've written they don't have to reconsider unless I have a good reason, hospitalisation etc. I'll give it a go but wondered if anyone has had any experience with this.
Any/all help would be great.
Thanks
