Sky mobile

I am disabled living remotly last monday my wife and I found we could not make any calls on our mob phones. Called sky several times they had no clue why except to run us through the usual tests which we did a few times. I contacted sky via twitter same routine. we traveled to our neaest sky shop who change the sim cards no result so they put our sims in their personal phones but same effect as ours so still no result. our phones are 2 different makes. I told sky the likely hood of two phones failing at the same exact time is infinit. The fault must be sky. So now 5 days later we still without mob use as vunerable customers.
We'r considering leaving but worry we maybe charged.

  • Can I clarify?

New SIMs as provided in the Sky shop didn't work on your phones?
Old SIMs put into other phones in the Sky shop didn't work either?

Do you have an online account with Sky and have you checked there that all payments are up to date?

Are you still inside of the minimum contract term with Sky Mobile? If you are then they will be looking to apply an early termination fee should you want to cancel. If you are outside of the minimum term then you can request your PAC code and then give that to a new provider to migrate and you only get charge to the migration date.

Did the shop staff put a known working sim into one of your phones and prove it worked to eliminate the phone? Just putting the new sim in theirs only shows the sim is apparently not working.

What was the next step they were doing? If the sim did not work in their phones are they getting a replacement that they will test and then get you back in to ensure it works for you?

Have you tried a non Sky sim in your phone and did that work? Sky mobile use the O2 network.

Not a criticism but my preference, always have your phone and your spouse's phone with a different provider on a different network.  Then in the event of a problem or poor network coverage where you are, there is more chance at least one of them will work.
  • Hopefully there is more info to come but to the OP is your phone capable of Wifi calling on Sky's network?

That was the reason I left Sky Mobile in the end.  They never could get wifi calling working on my phone, and the native signal at home was poor.  Then one day some changes to the network  left me with no siginal at all at home and a phone that was a brick unless I went half a mile up the road.

Changing to 1P mobile and instantly wifi calling worked on my phone.  And a cheaper service.

Sky network (piggybacking off O2) seems to have deteriorated dramatically in last month with all 4 of our phones often getting no signal at all even in centre of towns and rarely getting data. Support teams seem aware of problem but have no solution.

Does anybody know whether EE or Vodafone has the best deal for a liow-use (3-5GB), multiSim transfer?

We’re in SE London so clearly not remote as is OP but we have to use Wi-Fi calling with Sky as reception can be poor, although their own maps suggest we should receive very good reception here.
