Home Responsibilities Protection (HRP) payment - How Long for Update?

My wife who is 82 first applied for HRP in April 24. After many calls and letters trying to prove that she was entitled it ,(our son passed away in 2008) there are no records to show he got DLA or Mobility or even that he had a very rare illness, she has still not received confirmation whether or not she is entitled to HRP. The only information we have via a call is that it's been referred to the DWP. Can anybody tell us who we should call, write to, in order to at least get answer to our question of eligibility.
Surely her age alone would give her some priority in the scheme of things.

asdrubalex said:I applied for my mum October 14th, got a response on the online portal saying COMPLETED without understanding if it had gone through or not. We called, and it turns out they needed 'more info' all of which was on the original application (my dad's name, had we lived abroad? ) etc, possibly because we came to the UK in 1991. So I've buried them in proof that we came here in 1991 as I had so much old paperwork.
PS - did anyone actually managed to get precise dates from the child benefit office? Despite having an old number they said there were not able to find it, so we've had to make a bit of a speculative date. The number we had was CHB 12345678 but it didn't have the final two letters at the end, but then I don't know if back then they did...and no one in the CHB could give us any indication, nor in the NI office (My mum had HRP correctly applied for 2001/2002 and 2002/2003, but nothing from 1992-2001
I sent the follow amounts of paperwork:My son's NHS medical card issued on 10 March 1992
Notice of council tax register for 10th of October 1991 to 26th of February 1993
Photocopies of poll tax payment that I was able to locate for various periods between April 1992-1994
Vehicle registration document dated 22 June 1992
RAC car insurance dated 15 November 1992
Certificate of insurance for microwave from 7 October 1992 to 6 October 1995
Insurance policy 1994/1995 from Zurich
Council tax bill from 1994/1995 x2
Health insurance policy schedule for myself and my two sons from 26 January 1993 to 26 January 1996
Council Tax bill from 2 March 1994
Degree certificate from University of Cambridge confirming I was in full time education from 1998 to May / June 2001
Tax overview from my HMRC online account detailing filed tax returns for years: 1996/1997, 1997/1998, 1998/1999, 1999/2000, 2000/2001. This is as far back as my online tax account goes, I am not able to get any prior years
They came back after a month saying it still isn't approved saying 'they need the precise date we arrived and proof' like a plane ticket??
I am flabbergasted. I gave them 10 years worth of documentation and this is what they came back with. I mean i don't have a plane ticket from 1991....
I have proof that we were here from oct 1991, and we're claiming from April 1992 onwards.... what does it matter the exact date we arrived....0 -

completely disregarding what I sent. I told them we entered from the EEC under freedom of movement laws. We didn't get stamp, and I already sent them proof, and resent it again. I am waiting for their reply.
It seems they are being deliberately obtuse. I have also contacted my MP0 -
PS - does anyone know if these arrears should be eligible for interest or not? My mother is owed 9 years of HRP arrears, something like 29000.... if I factor in interest we're talking around 2.7k at an average rate of 2%.0

But HMRC will want some tax from the arrears if she is liable to pay extra tax once the arrears are taken into account.
I think this is taxed on the basis of what she is entitled to each tax year, the whole lump sum isn't taxed in one tax year.0 -
god they are such pieces of work.
but yes i looked into the tax, they only take the last 4 years but she isn't liable so that's fine0 -

That relates to a different State Pension arrears exercise but I would be surprised if DWP didn't take the same line for people getting HRP related arrears.

Ok - so FINALLY TODAY they have approved the HRP - now that this is approved I sent a letter to DWP to get a jump on it - she's owed 31 k in arrears.
Does anyone know how long this is likely to take?0
