O2 Switch up - change in terms and conditions

Recently received an email from o2 informing me of a change in their terms and conditions. They state on their email that as their terms are changing, I can cancel my airtime plan within the next 30 days, but continue to pay my device plan, as per the terms already agreed.
Upon speaking with their advisors, they tell me that this cannot be done. They’re telling me that I need to pay off my device plan in full (£899) rather than continue with the monthly payments.
Any advice on where to go from here please?
