Letter from UK Search Ltd, regarding Southern Water debt that's 8 years ago.

I got a Debt Collector notice come through yesterday, this is the first I've heard of this case. As far as we were aware, the flat in question was left with all bills paid. We've been with Southern Water in two places since, and have had no notice of this debt.
Attached a pic of the letter, with personal details blurred out.
I don't really know what the best next step is. How can I ask for proof? Where do we stand, and what's the best next step to take?
