    that we pacifically make reference

I would be wary of a dealer who didn't know the difference between 'specifically' and 'pacifically'. Are they some back street outfit?

Have you done your own HPI (or equivalent) check on the old car?  If you have not, then do that now.

You will then have some evidence as to whether the screenshot the Dealer has shared is an error.

At that point, when you know the true status of the car, you can assess your next move.

I now have a HPI Confirmation Certificate.

    Security Watch:          Checked and Clear

    Stolen Vehicles:         Checked and Clear

    Outstanding Finance: Checked and Clear

    Condition Alert:          Checked and Clear

    Condition Inspected:  AUTOLIGN NORTHAMPTON

Is that with VIN or reg number?

As I know with RAC HPI, you only get cover when you add VIN.

He's deemed the expert and should have done his due dilligence before buying - he had all the details and saw the car first.

Where did you buy the car from? Another dealer or privately? Did you do an HPI then or now?

Also, £6k is a huge valuation difference between a cat D and not, how much was the trade in and what's the car?

My trade in was a 2015 Lexus NX Premier, full main dealer service history. He has in on autotrader now, but not on his own site!

He allowed £13k for it as a trade in, then said it was worth £6,345 flogging it at auction.
There are smashed up Lexus on ebay for sale for more.
    It just makes little sense.

Yes he is an independent dealer.

It was with the Reg. Brought up full details of the car.

^^^ This is the question - if he's flogging it for closer to £13k than £6k, then he's trying it on.

This is the only Cat D Lexus NX currently on Autotrader:

    https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202405039340269

It's on for £13K, but says it got it's Cat D in 2016, not 2017 as the OP mentioned.

Redped: thats our old car. Internally probably the condition we left it with the dealer. Externally he will have washed and polished it.

Just so little of this makes sense.

When compared to ebay salvage prices:
2016 LEXUS NX 300H LUXURY 2.5 HYBRID ELECTRIC SUV AUTO DAMAGED SALVAGE | eBay

2019 68 REG LEXUS NX 300H PREMIUM HYBRID AUTO DAMAGED REPAIRABLE SALVAGE | eBay

They either meant calmly or were offering a trip to the Far East. :-)
