    That entrance signage is dreadful.
"But what constitutes 'adequate' legally I do not know"
The BPA COP (which PE signed up to) states what signage should be present to form a contract:

Keith P and fisherjim, thank you and apologies for not having found the location on google sooner.   I had not thought the Hospital grounds would be on google because I thought it was all 'private land' owned by the hospital estates.  I had thought that at the end of the road in the photo above there must be another side of the social club with the car park in the earlier photo, which was accessible to the main road outside the hospital grounds.   I'd like to explain that I had no knowledge of St Francis Social Club prior to this incident.  I'm not that local, so I did not understand the terrain/ layout of the social club which appears to have more than one site within the hospital grounds.

Yes but you'll be using the template POPLA points from the NEWBIES thread and at the start, do your own bespoke first paragraph making the point above by @fisherjim

OR JUST IGNORE IT AND DO NOT TRY POPLA.

Update to this case. Since I didn't receive a reply to my email to 'info' at the social club I sent a follow-up email to the chairman of the St Francis Social Club.   He asked one of his colleagues to deal with it and adorably, he has cancelled it.   Such a weight off my mind.

Thank you to everyone who helped, and for all the advice on the Newbies thread.  You are all wonderful to help like this.
