Surveys count you have to pay tax if you earn over 1000Spoonie_Turtle said:
The £1000 threshold is for trading / self-employment ('trading' often comes into play for people selling stuff, it's the difference between selling unwanted personal items vs selling items the person bought or made specifically to sell).HarmonyDragon said:Reading this with interest as I have also just had a journal entry telling me I'm having a telephone review, I get about 80-100 a month for surveys and such. I'm on LCW so I have a work allowance which I think is around £400, so it's well below that. But now I'm concerned that they may flag it as possibly being over the £1000 a year threshold for HMRC. Can anyone advise about this? Seems like it would be wise to write a journal note about this before the phone appointment takes place.
I don't know if surveys would count, you'll have to look into the guidance.

And to specifically answer your question, UC aren't going to care about any HMRC threshold. They'll likely just assume that you meet any responsibilities for declaring income.0 -
Whether they count or not, it's wrong to say you have to pay tax on over £1000 from them. If it is taxable income you still would only have to pay tax if the total of your taxable income is above the ~£12,000+ personal allowance in a tax year.[Deleted User] said:

Thank you, I will have a look at that link. I'm kind of dreading this phone call. I suspect I'm going to have to produce a lot of info as doing surveys creates a lot of small transactions that go through my paypal and main bank acoount. ,Spoonie_Turtle said:

I noticed that in their update OP mentioned that the DM had said if it was below £1000 it would be ignored. Mine is around the £1000 level - though it's only reached that level this year.0 -
