Very pushy replacement energy meter calls

In fairness “qualified” in this field would mean a registered dietician or nutritionist, and I’ve not seen too many of them advising intermittent fasting as a lifestyle the population should adopt across the board! It’s more of a fad loved by the diet industry (because it’s something they can sell to people).
As for time of use tariffs, plenty of folk on here we’re living with them even before smart meters came along - Economy 7 has been about for years after all, and yes, it’s very possible to get cheaper bills that way, too, and without any inconvenience or impact on quality of life!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

It's weird because it's so far from the subject of smart meters and only bolstered a point that was of limited relevance anyway. Not wanting to move usage around doesn't preclude benefiting from agile, you have to look at the current pattern of usage on average.Eldi_Dos said:
Must say I do not think it is weird to take account of current thinking coming from people that are qualified in the matter, even if advice is with a lower case a at the moment.MeteredOut said:That is probably the weirdest reason I've ever heard for not wanting to go onto a TOU tariff, and, for that alone, I applaud you

Do you not think looking at things from the point of view of saving money over convenience and wellbeing may be the one that is questionable.bob2302 said:

I was prompted to make my post by one that advocated an advantage was to be had by pushing back times to start cooking evening meal as if it was a good thing.
For the record I have not said anything against smart meters or TOU tariffs.
Anyway this could develop into a discussion outwith energy matters so I will leave it there.Play with the expectation of winning not the fear of failure. S.Clarke1 -
So, I got a confirmation of the booking today between 13:00 and 15:00, along with a message saying the engineer would call before my appointment to provide an estimated time. That's very good, I thought and it allows me to plan my work day.Except it's after 12 and I haven't had that call, so I rang the company "Smart Meters SMS" to check status. The lady said they don't give 2-hour slots and it'd be between 1 and 5, to which I said the 13:00-15:00 was in messages from them.I asked if she could tell when they might come or whether there was another customer in front of me, but she said she couldn't.I had made arrangements to be unavailable at the given time, but now I'm waiting at the engineer's convenience. The company don't seem to know the status and I don't have any information or even know if or when it may or may not happen.Oh well, I'll cancel it if they can't be bothered.

Get the £30 compensation if they don't turn up.2 -
I'd not be shifting my schedule around them now - if you need to go out at 3pm, then do that. Its their issue if they don't arrive in the window they originally told you.prowla said:So, I got a confirmation of the booking today between 13:00 and 15:00, along with a message saying the engineer would call before my appointment to provide an estimated time. The company don't seem to know the status and I don't have any information or even know if or when it may or may not happen.Oh well, I'll cancel it if they can't be bothered.0 -
Was just on the call to Octopus and the engineer called saying he's on his way; I said I wasn't happy with the lack of communication and this meant he'd not be done until after 6.I called Octopus and they're crediting me the £30 and they had a bit of a moan about the installers too.Fingers crossed regarding the engineer turning up and doing the job.
I'll get him to do the electric first!2 -
I hope he's not too late as it might impact tomorrow mornings eating. Remember, experts say you need 12 to 14 hours between finishing your evening meal and having your breakfastprowla said:Was just on the call to Octopus and the engineer called saying he's on his way; I said I wasn't happy with the lack of communication and this meant he'd not be done until after 6.I called Octopus and they're crediting me the £30 and they had a bit of a moan about the installers too.Fingers crossed regarding the engineer turning up and doing the job.

Don't let the drama and excitement of someone getting a meter installed get to much for you, might not be good for your digestion.Play with the expectation of winning not the fear of failure. S.Clarke2
