I'm moving house and my whole deposit is gifted (which i have sent them proof of funds etc) but my solicitor has also asked me for 6 months statements, do i have to send them even though I'm not having to prove i have a certain amount of money in the bank? I've already sent to my lender.

You don't have to, but your solicitor doesn't have to continue with the transaction either...0

General Public: The conveyancing process takes too long!
Solicitor: Hey could you send in these documents please. We wouldn't be wasting time asking for them if we didn't need them.
General Public: Hey random Internet stranger, do I really need to send it?
Solicitor: ..........................

Obviously you can refuse anything you want however the real world answer is the same as the answer to the question "do you want to buy this property?"
Solicitors are legally obliged not to facilitate money laundering etc so have to run their own checks, they cannot avoid jail/fines by saying "well RBS approved the mortgage so it must have been fine"0 -
I'm confused: What is the advantage you get by not sending statements to solicitor? Something you wish to keep quiet about?0
