Hi All, It took a while but Horizon finally got back to me. Here's what they said:
-----------------------------------Dear Appellant,
Parking Charge Notice: [REDACTED]
Thank you for your recent correspondence regarding the above Parking Charge Notice, which we have reviewed.
I can confirm the Parking Charge Notice has now been cancelled and no further action will be taken in this matter.

Great news. Would you support this.
So many people don't receive 1st/2nd pcn but the £170 payment due letter often manages to drop through letter boxes. PPCs always claim discounted/full rate pcn/court claim letters were sent though offer no evidence to prove this. A letter's issue date is not it's sending date nor does it prove the letter was sent.Since PPCs CHOOSE NOT to provide evidence of their posting date and delivery we must continue to press gov to ensure they do. Please sign/share these petitions.Require communications from Private Parking companies to be traceable/trackable.

Equix said:Newbie here, Any and all assistance is welcome here folks.
I've read the newbies thread however I do have to say it's a little overwhelming and I'm not one to be easily intimidated by things I'm not massively educated on.
Anywho, I received a PCN in the mail yesterday with the usual mumbo and images of my car. Horizon parking want £40 since the RK overstayed by an hour in the local Tesco Extra.
I'm not paying it, I just want to know how to make it go away.
I've tried 'Plan A', but unsure as to whether you fine folks would count it as 'exhausted'.
Basically, I rang up Tesco helpline and the woman I spoke to was of no help at all, and after explaining that the RK visits that tesco regularly and has never been stung, AND explaining that on the day in question the RK did a rather large shop (£200 shopping bill) she started questioning me as if RK was in the wrong for doing so? and for spending so long in the store? (4hrs as RK bumped into a friend instore).
In the end she just told me to go through the Appeal process as there was nothing she could do at this stage
So what do I do here? Go into store and ask for the manager to see if they will sort it? or go straight to Plan B and use the template?
Also I don't know if the PCN uses Popla wording I can upload images if needed.I know this is an old thread, but thought I'd share my experience here as it may help someone in the future.I received a parking charge from Horizon for overstaying in a Tesco Extra car park. I didn't relaise I was only allowed to park for 90 minutes past 8 PM at this location.Upon receiving the charge, I drove back to the Tesco branch with the letter and spoke to the Shoft manager. I had spent just under 2 hrs in the store and took the shopping receipt with me to prove I was indeed shopping. He took a copy of the letter from Horizon and advised me that he will email them to cancel the charge and that I can ignore any future letters from them.I guess I did only spend under 2 hours in the store and I made sure that I was polite to the manager and asked him if would be kind enough to help in any way possible. Seemed to have worked.Hope this helps!2 -
@vital_knldg great tesco cancelled your pcn.
It may be better to add your post to this thread
Successful complaints about private parking tickets - how to get them cancelled!1 -
Coupon-mad said:None of this was needed and the complaint told Tesco who was driving, so it was a bad idea. That was not what to write.
Just appeal as keeper (NOT adding any words that tell the world who was driving).
@nopcns wording will work and it couldn't be easier to win. It'll be cancelled next week.
I'm in a similar jam where I've gotten a fobbing off from some assistant answering the Tesco CEOs emails.... Sorry, I don't mean to hop on someone else's thread0 -
Things have changed in Horizon's NTK wording since 2024. But don't pay it.
Try the Tesco manager in person, taking up space at the CS desk until they cancel it!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
