I feel for you. It really is the hardest thing even when you know it's the right thing.

You may have the option for a vet to come down to your home, we have had one of our cats PTS this way in the past and it was so dignified, she went on my lap, it was all over within 15min (the whole visit), and no drama. We had booked the date/tim in advance and the reception phoned us when the vets were on their way which was so very good of them.

Take someone with you when you go, if you feel it's the right thing - we went together with my OH which was a godsend to me as I was in tears continually despite desperately trying to hold it together. At least OH was calm and collected and able to talk with the vets.

We were given a form to fill at the start as to what our wishes were with regards to disposal of the body. We chose to have him cremated and have the ashes back like we've done with the others over the years.

Your cat has done really well, it's nearly 2 full months from your initial post - think of this as extra time you had with her.  We are thinking of you.

Thankyou, it is hard to make the decision, but I'm not going to let her suffer and she's clearly getting more poorly. I need to be kind. I think she 'knows' she has had enough, she looks sad but is reciprocating my head rubs. Her sister tiggy is not coming in the house, which is very unusual as she spends all of her time in here usually. I think she knows something is wrong with her sister.

I am so sorry that you are all going through this. It's the hardest decision to make but the most loving thing you can do for your beloved companion. You will be in my thoughts tomorrow.
    It's not difficult!
'Wander' - to walk or move in a leisurely manner.
    'Wonder' - to feel curious.

Just an update. After my last post, tabby rallied again. Stopped mouth breathing and perked up, all the way until these last few days where I noticed her fur was dull. This evening she really struggled to breathe for a short time, my husband was with her on the kitchen floor. She coughed and then passed away with him near her. We have placed her under our magnolia tree in the front garden. Pleased she is at rest now but we will always remember her fondly

Hi kezzygirl, I did wonder how things had gone, it sounds like her last days were as good as they can be, I'm glad you had extra time with her. I had a good sob last night, nearly seven months later and I still miss her little head nuzzling into my chest. Sending love xxx
