Only for new customers that don’t already have a current account with them.
Although unless I've gone insane, one thing I have noticed is that unlike previous VM switching offers there doesn't seem to be anything in the terms excluding those who have benefitted from their previous offers, so presumably those who had their most recent 25% cashback (£160 max) switching offer but later switched out will be eligible for this one.

You're not insane. It just says new customers only, and a new customer is someone who didn't have an account with them yesterday. So unless you have an account or closed your account yesterday, it looks like you qualify even if you benefited from their previous offer.

May I ask, have Virgin Money ever done a 'traditional' switch campaign (i.e. £xxx one off bonus for switching), or have they always taken a different approach?

Not that I'm aware of. Their previous offers have been as follows:

£100 Virgin Experience Days Gift Card + 3% bonus Mplus interest 28/01/2022 12/04/2022
£150 Virgin Experience Days gift card or case of Virgin wine 20/10/2021?? 27/01/2022
£150 Virgin Experience Days Gift Card 21/6/21?? 19/10/2021
    Case of wine & £50 charity donation 16/3/21?? 20/06/2021

I vaguely recall someone mentioning Yorkshire bank did a traditional switching offer at one stage though.

They did a few. The first was a bonanza because there was nothing to stop you applying for multiple accounts and getting a bonus for each.

They fixed the terms in later ones and there was a very shortlived £250 bonus at one point. I think it might have lasted a bit longer if you went to one of the 2 or 3 'B' branches which CYBG managed to open before the rebrand.

They did a switch offer in October/November 2022. Can't remember how much it was though.

I think you're referring to the £160 cashback offer which is mentioned on the above list. They paid 25% cashback on supermarket and fuel spending up to a maximum of £160.

My list lists when the offers were available, not necessarily when the money was paid. I seem to recall you had a decent length of time in which to do the switch after the offer went NLA and the cashback took a while to arrive. I received my £160 from that offer in chunks over the course of Nov 2022 (plus an financial apology for the cashback arriving late).

I have got M plus saver, so will I be eligible for this offer?

Yes you'd be eligible so long as you don't already have an M, M Plus or Club M current account and haven't closed one since yesterday.

So if I set up a new Chase burner current account to switch, how do I go about setting two direct debits up in my Chase account so that these switch as well? Not sure how or to who I set up ‘fake’ direct debits?
