  • I’m pretty sure he knew it was unsafe. He carried out various modifications to the property without permission from building control or the national park authority. We actually have a copy of the survey detailing that the house should not have been occupied in its current state.

    None of which will help you! The time to have done something was while you lived there not 3 years after you left!

    You have suffered no loss so there is nothing for you to be compensated for.

    You have a report which says that the house shouldn't have been occupied when you left it - it is a good thing you left when you did - otherwise the landlord might have been breaking the law.

    The landord might have broken some laws (or they might not have) but if they have then they could be fined.  The landlord being fined makes no difference to whether a tenant is entitled to or receives any conpensation.
