Yes, that is true when you are in the region of 3G, it will connect to full 3G services even if you are not using it, the battery barely lasts a day, the simple way to over come this, is to keep it on Packet Switching, so it will know there is a 3G signal, but it doesn't connect to it, and when you browse the internet or make a 3G call, it will then connect to it, this solution is very easy to do and the battery becomes week long usable without a charge. I don't know why Sony E didn't incorporate this in the first place because there literally is NO advantage for it to continually be connected to the 3G services, as soon as you need it, it will connect (when it's not set to a constant connection) and so I can't see a point in the default settings.

Anyway, don't worry about the battery life on this phone, it isn't a problem and I haven't heard of any long term problems having following the handset from launch and programmed Symbian applications.

Thanks for this sound like there is nothing to worry about. Just a minor setting to change.

It is good to hear from people who have actually used the phone, and get these tips! Many thanks.
    Seth.

As this phone is quite large by today's standards I wanted to know if anyone can recommend a decent belt clip type case

    I saw this one for around £12 + P&P

Don't quote me on this but when I had a P910 the case it came with had a built in belt clip. I'm not sure whether the p990 does but I can't see why it wouldn't.

It does not come with a case (990), the case for the 910 fits but you can buy many aftermarket cases for under 5 pounds on Ebay or any shops really.

Noticed the that a Bluetooth sat nav was £19.99 so order one of these. This does not include mapping software.
Got the dispatch email from them this morning. Woohoo - SatNav to go with my 6120 and Nokia Maps!
    :money:

Crikey - it's now just arrived too!

Am I the only one that Orange have asked to wait for my P990i?

Have many people got their phones? The email says there might be more delays!
    Seth.
  • Mine, ordered on Sunday, arrived yesterday.

For those who are still waiting or are thinking about ordering one when they're back in stock, don't expect to get any useful accessories that would come with a new p990i - it's just the phone, charger, battery, manual and SIM (and the free BT headset). No data cable, no wired stereo headset, no CD.

Oh, another thing to note: don't put the phone near a magnet, it makes it think the flip is open. This is quite annoying when you have a belt case that's just the right size but uses a magnet to hold it shut!
