Good deal though they are a bit chunky - the P1i is what replaced it though instead I bought a nokia 6120c for £100 (smartphone in disguise - no wifi but the new E51 has that and offline from CPW is £199)

How do you get the code in there? I've put wincanton in the evoucher box but it says it doesn't recognise it.

Wincanton is a firms name and the discount applies to business accounts. There is another code needed if you were to try, details on Hotdeals Sony W550 thread.

Has anyone had any experience good or bad with this phone? I've ready about some crashes and problems, but these were posted in 2006 when the phone was released.

I use this phone and have used it since its launch last August.

It has full stylus input, qwerty keyboard and keypad input approach for when you need to type quick stuff. I never upgraded to the P1i as I found it a pain to text without looking it was full touch screen input, so you can't really feel what you've pressed. The P990 does only have a 2 megapixel camera, it was made through software update to be more clearer in interpolation (there was a last and final software update release about two months ago, a month after Sony said they would no longer provide support for the phone).

It plays videos (including feature length films at high quality) fine and music without consuming any battery power, using the same battery I got from day one, I can still listen to 5 hours of mp3s and it consumes maybe 8% battery.

Internet browsing was upgraded in the last software update to be much faster and work better with the memory constraints of the P990 (it is a little limited, which is one of its drawbacks).

I think that's all there is to write on, it is a very good phone and I haven't updated it due to very little being better in the same league.

Just rang Orange and they say their policy has now changed as of 2 weeks ago - they will not unlock new customers PAYG handsets for the first 3 months now.

Now have £20 sitting on a PAYG sim that I dont need.
