    No, you have up to 6 months to collect against an authorisation. For a CPA an initial payment must be made and only subsequent payments are made under the CPA and you must have a CPA merchant account which the majority of vendors dont have. 

    Car hire companies often won't be taking a payment up front to set up a CPA, just an authorisation hold for the excess so they can charge for damages/late return etc later. 


    The OP has given a fuller version of the story elsewhere, two firms gave instruction to the same hire car company, the OP didnt read what they were signing and ultimately wishes that the hire had been given under the other set of instructions.
