Supporting students and apprentices at the same time

I have 2 children one daughter in their second year of University and one son in their second year of an apprenticeship.
As my son is not classed as a dependent even though I am still having to support him financially although not fully. My daughter's student lone is deducted in line with my earnings as I have no dependents. So in effect I am topping up two children but that is not being taken in to account. Does anyone know if there Is there anything I can do about this? Or any additional support available?
I have looked on the internet but come up with a blank. If they were both at university that is taken in to account.

I would suggest looking at top up benefits for both you and your son.0
