Oh Tesco - unit pricing

Well I was looking forward to the unit prices appearing on the clubcard price and they've been appearing slowly in my local store. But now they've got another sneaky trick of putting bigger clubcard price labels that don't have the unit price on at all - and they are putting them over the shelf edge label that does have the unit price on! It varies around the store, some items the big label is not over the shelf edge label, and some items it is.

Yes essentially you need a calculator in hand to make comparisons across identical products in the same brand when you cannot quickly identify unit prices.0

Tesco cannot work out unit pricing anyway.
We have pointed out errors to them over the years but to noavail..
Shop say they have to use the label that they are sent by head office.
One example - three flavours of Tesco own brand tins of fizzy juice.
All packs of six were the same price but each label had a different unit price
Even better was not one of them was correct.
Manager was dismayed when it was pointed out to him.
My husband was on first name with the manger of the store as he had reported so many wrong items.

I noticed unit pricing had been introduced on the Clubcard prices. I don't believe "in store advertising", which a shelf barker can be construed as, needs to have unit pricing as long as the relevant ticket does.

I have noticed the variety of formats for unit pricing in Tesco. For example two different packs of own brand fresh chillies. One pack weighs 25 g the other 80g. One is unit priced per 10g the other per kg!Of course this is simple maths, but the point of unit pricing is to help those who struggle to work it out for themselves.I have pointed out obvious pricing errors ( I mostly use Tesco online) but they are just not interested. I understand shops have little control over the labels they are supplied with, but I would expect the website/app to be able to correct errors very quickly.2

As you say, the point of unit pricing is to help those not good at mental arithmetic, so it's irrelevantwhether the calculation is simple maths or not. I conclude it's a deliberate atttempt to confuse customers.
(I pointed out this Waitrose practice to my wife some time ago. She's a solicitor but mental arithmetic is not her strong point and she had difficulty comparing the different unit pricing)1 -
I used to work at Tesco HO, just as clubcard offers was coming in. The store is right that the price is set by HO, but the admin team were forever making mistakes. Even internally if I tried to get the label corrected it could take weeks. Very frustrating as a shopper!
If that concerned I'd flag to trading standards, when I worked at tesco I would get emails forwarded re trading standards issues and that did get problems sorted faster. Trading standards were who were not happy initially with club card prices not showing the new price per Gram etc

The bulk of our supermarket shopping is done online by a weekly Tesco delivery. I believe it was back in February that Tesco said they were going to show unit pricing for Clubcard Offers and for a while this was happening. However for the past couple of weeks they have reverted to NOT showing the unit pricing for offers - and I`ve had to resort to my calculator again.
I have tried to complain to Tesco about his online but it seems to be impossible to do so1 -
Unit prices are not always correct
I bought a pack of Heinz beans last week
4 pack or 6 pack, unit price said 6 pack was cheaper which you would expect but it didn't look right to me so I did the calculations on my phone
4 pack was cheapest2
