Returning EV after PCP

Goudy said:I was reading recently that the BVRLA have updated their "Fair Wear & Tear" guidelines to include more EV related items.
I haven't yet seen it as the BVRLA keep it behind a pay wall, but could the finance company be jumping on that?
This appears to be the current version:
https://issuu.com/bfwsn67/docs/cars_fw_t_fleet_alliance?e=2001091/40087681
(2022 edition, says it's licensed to the Fleet Alliance through this calendar year)
The mechanical standard section says nothing about EV range, just that there should be no warning lights, etc.
Running the diagnostics would seem to be the obvious way forward, but whether the financier accept that is another question. Asking the dealer for a state-of-health report should be acceptable, though.
I can see why they might be wary about collecting with such short range - they've got to drive it back to their depot, after all. But if that's a healthy range for a 7yo battery on a car they financed, then that's their problem - and if the solution is to collect on a flatbed, then they need to collect on a flatbed.0 -
The update was in December 2022 I believe included some EV related requirements.
BVRLA fair wear and tear standard for cars updated (fleetnews.co.uk)
Part of this I believe is about returning it "Fully Charged".
Now this is the part I was thinking might be a bit misleading.
Fully Charged as in full to it's current capacity or full to it's actual capacity?0 -

Ask a Nissan dealer for a SOH report, pass that on to the finance company as if the dealer deems its fine, what can the finance company do?4.29kWp Solar system, 45/55 South/West split in cloudy rainy Cumbria.0

As any EV owner knows fully charged = 100%, but what is on the GOM means noting.
If they are expecting to see the WLTP quoted range on the GOM, than on a Leaf of this age. Good luckLife in the slow lane0 -
To add my tuppenceworth to this. The GOM and the state of health of the battery bear very little relationship to each other. The GOM, like the miles left in a petrol or diesel car assumes that the conditions you last met are the ones you'll find going forward. If you've had a very economical ride it will offer you a lot. If you've thrashed it in wet, dark windy conditions, it will offer you much less.
My 40 kwh leaf arrived with the meter offering me 164 miles. I don't think it has ever offered me that again. Recently going to work in sleet and hail gave the miles per kwh a real battering. I charged it to full and it said 116 miles, which is the lowest I have ever seen. Perilously close to that 70% level.
The weather has improved a bit, I've had better conditions, and I've been commuting without lights on. I ran it down to 11% and fully charged it again, which I generally only do once a month. It offered 140 miles - three weeks or so after the 116. In benign summer conditions I'm likely to see 150.
I'd drive your car carefully on a reasonably flat road for 30 or 40 miles, running the battery well down. Then fully charge it on AC and see what it says.1
