Credit rating - Late payment to Shell energy 3 months after account was closed
Has anybody had issues with non or late payments when Shell energy changed to Octopus energy?
As I am re-mortgaging, I have just checked my credit rating. I was shocked to find a non/missing payment to Shell energy in February 2024 (I actually transferred to Octopus energy in Nov/Dec 2023, just before they announced the transfer)
I'm confident the final balance was paid in as I remember having to make payments to both Shell & Octopus, the account was closed and I have received nothing else from Shell since.
I have tried to dispute the late payment with transunion but have been told I need to contact the supplier (who doesn't exist)
Has anybody got any advice?

Yes! I’ve just come on here to say the same, and see if anyone has any advice.I transferred to octopus in December, I paid both shell and octopus in December, as I wanted to make sure I don’t get behind, and thinking any credit would be transferred over.I checked my credit file back in March, only to find shell had put me as having a missed payment.I tried to contact shell, but everywhere just redirected me to octopus.I contacted octopus and sent them a screen grab of my credit file, showing 3 different amounts, for January, February and March, which looks as though they’ve continued to charge me.Octopus said they would talk to shell, and then said they had, and they would remove the entry and closed the case, I couldn’t check until it was updated a month later - and it’s still there.I then got my bill from octopus & they’ve debited my account with over £250 to shell!I’ve gone back to octopus, and they said it’s because I owed shell money!This has been going on for 3 months, I’m going round in circles, does anyone have any suggestions please?0
