Just wondering. How long was it between the death and the funeral or cremation.

In our case for MiL's funeral, now we are over the delay caused by referral to the coroner compounded by the unavailability of a doctor to produce the statement of cause of death for the coroner which has added a couple of weeks to the process, we cannot get the dates and times that we want for the cremation (in order that key family members are able to attend) not due to unavailability of the crematorium but because the Coop doesn't have hearses available despite us offering several dates / time combinations.....not something we had considered would be a constraint using the Coop (even more frustrating as its only 1 mile from funeral home to crematorium - I did half jokingly suggest that we could pick her up in the back of my estate car and take her there ourselves)So we have had to push the funeral back by a further two weeks such that in total it will be nearly 6 weeks from death to cremation.1

And I understand there's no good reason why you can't do that.Shedman said:I did half jokingly suggest that we could pick her up in the back of my estate car and take her there ourselves
Of course back in the day, the coffin would be carried by hand, in some cases many miles over quite treacherous terrain. Lack of nearby facilities is not a new thing.Signature removed for peace of mind2 -
You can still walk the Coffin Route from Ambleside to Grasmere, which has large stones at intervals, so the coffin could be put down and the bearers could rest.Savvy_Sue said:

No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
