Mediation is the process of narrowing the gap. That can include explaining to C why a claim is wholly misconceived.

If there is any disclosure required you should ask for that first and if C refuses, that may potentially be an obstacle to early resolution.

Hi Johnersh, thanks for that. So should I explain to them why I think the claim is wrongly sent to me (e.g. My defence) and then explain that I am not willing to settle?

No need for more than 5 minutes. Don't try to explain your defence to a Mediator.

Compulsory Mediation is already covered with two links about it in the Template Defence thread.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thanks Coupon-mad, I did read those two links in the template defence thread and essentially it says to briefly explain your defence, tell them that you are offering zero towards payment and that's pretty much it.

Shall I not explain my defence then and just say that I'm offering zero?

Does anyone know where the Mediation Mary thread is please?

I have tried searching but cannot find it. My mediation is in the next hour.

The mediation is not a trial and no judge or lawyers are involved. It is completely unsuitable for bulk litigator initiated parking claims and, basically, a waste of everyone's time.

The only requirement is to "attend". There is no requirement to do anything else. All you have to state is that you are only prepared to pay £0 and it will be over in less than 5 minutes. You have therefore fulfilled the requirement to "attend". Over and done with.

Yep, 5 minutes flat. The mediator was reasonable and friendly which was a surprise!
