Using a NAS with Cloud Service

I'd be grateful for any advice or suggestions on the following.
I have (currently) 1 TB of cloud space as part of a software subscription. Currently all of the files (say 500GB) are held locally on a HD in my main computer so are backed up in the background to the cloud. My other devices are set to just show the directories and file icons and only to fetch the file itself from the cloud when required.
The problems are I am beginning to run out of local HD space plus fetching more than a handful of large (30 to 50MB) image files is irritatingly slow on my 70 MBS broadband (plus the upload speed is only 18 MBS).
So I was wondering about getting some kind of NAS to plug into my router but I still want an off site backup. I assume the files on the NAS would be a lot faster to access than getting them from the cloud on 70MBS broadband?
How do I go about storing all my files on the NAS so that i can access them from any Windows or Mac on my home network and have them automatically backup to the cloud in the background? I don't normally need to be able to access them when away from home but could (presumably) do so from the cloud if needed.
All ideas welcome, Thanks!

I have a Synology DS218 NAS, it has a "Cloud sync" app on it that sync's its local data to the cloud.
I use GoogleDrive, but it has many other options, e.g. Dropbox, OneDrive, Box, Azure etc. etc.
Works fine.

I use an excellent Qnap NAS, which has all the software tools to set up pretty much any backup scheme you want, to many cloud services or HD etc.1

Many thanks to you both. I'll Google both suggestions and do some reading up.0
