What do you mean you have no signal and then go on to say you have no aerial? How are you watching the TV now?If the issue is purely a signal issue then changing the TV won't fix anything.1

I think they mean that due to the problems with the aerial signal, they now want to use an internet-enabled set instead2

You probably don't need a new TV set.
Does yours have a HDMI socket on the back?
If so a Firestick or Roku stick will give you Amazon Prime and the same freeview channels you would get with a smart TV.
No currently available sets can show the same Freeview you get with an aerial, but if you can wait a month or two, Hisense, Toshiba, Bush, and JVC are on the brink of launching sets with Freely TV which will be Freeview over the internet.1 -
You can buy a 90 degree hdmi connector which would allow the stick to point upwards or sideways depending on the directional location of the socket.[Deleted User] said:
I want to buy a smaller tv for the bedroom so I will wait until they launch sets with freely tv.. The tv does have a HDMI socket but it's at the bottom of the tv so I need something smaller than 10cm or it will hit the cupboard.Alderbank said:You probably don't need a new TV set.

We have a small tv in our kitchen which runs solely off a Roku stick. Changing channels (say from BBC iplayer to ITVX is a bit of a clunky but the overall signal through WiFi is very good.0
