    Hi,

I've received a court hearing. The letter says the claimant has to pay the court fees by the 4th October.
Is that something I can check online or will I have to phone the court?
They also sent me their defence with a letter saying I can pay a lower amount to avoid going to court.

Because they've sent that I'm assuming they probably paid the fee.

    When is YOUR deadline though?
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Sorry if I sound a bit thick but what deadline? I just received the hearing date with instructions to let them know my email address because it's going to be through MS teams. I hope I didn't have a deadline for something 🥺

You will have had a deadline for filing a Witness Statement and evidence.

Look again at your Notice of Allocation. The Notice that gives the hearing date.
Is there not a paragraph something like:
Each party must deliver to every other party and to the court office copies of all documents on which he intends to rely at the hearing no later than [ . . . ] [14 days before the hearing].
    Might be on the back.
Those 'documents on which you intend to rely' are your Witness Statement and evidence.

You certainly did have a deadline from the court.  Fully expected:

Witness Statement and evidence stage, as clearly explained in the NEWBIES thread.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thank you. It was on the back. I've got 14 days before the hearing date which is the 18th.
