    With the long weekend coming up I think I'll give myself a chance to relax and will tackle this next week. Really, I'm so grateful for yours and others' input. Will update the thread again when I have an outcome.

    Result!

    After emailing them again as per @ThisIsWeird's suggestion, they offered to re-do the installation at no further charge. A different bloke turned up this time to carry out the work. Much better :smile: This is how it should have been done in the first place. All's well that ends well.

    This is the new installation...(I've already filled and repainted the wall)

    And here's the new rad on the opposite side of the wall, using a short run through the corner (like it should have been in the first place). 



    You really shouldn't have a socket-outlet tight to a radiator like that. The heat from that could act as a detrimental influence.
