Bank account access/ contactless

I suspect that anyone trying to hitch a ride in an ambulance because of irrational fears about contactless cards might find themselves being taken somewhere other than their home....TheBanker said:I think you're saying that because your card is contactless you don't take it out with you, which means you have to rely on the Police or Ambulance Service if you don't have enough money for a taxi? I think the risk of being stuck without money is greater than the risk of your contactless card being randomly cloned, so I would urge you to take it with you. You should not be relying on the Police or Ambulance Service for a lift as they are very busy and will likely to refuse to help unless there is a genuine emergancy.4 -
Anyone wasting the time of the emergency services for something like this, when they are under such strain anyway, should have the book thrown at them, in my view.TheBanker said:pennyforthem said:I will never have an online bank account or a banking app!I do not want a contactless card as they can be cloned I do not see why I should spend my time ensuring money is not going out of my account and arguing over incorrect expenditure. A non-contactless card is of no extra effort to provide, on the other hand a contactless card IS why then should I be forced to have something that I have no use for, puts me in a greater risk and adds stress to my life?I use my bank card for paying my credit card, accessing my ISA and emergencies when I am out which I am now cash only. (I very much doubt I would have enough money for a taxi on me, so would have to call an ambulance. Got a lift off the police last time)Why you would need to know any of this to be able to say if you have a help to buy ISA that has not been accessed for over a year where I stand with it, I don't know? All I know is they have stopped sending me statements without warning.I take it, I am left with an account that I will have to pay for things with my credit card online and write checks and get cash from people I know then!

Indeed - but my point to the OP is that the police or ambulance service are unlikely to respond to a call from someone who hasn't got enough money for a taxi anyway (unless said person was in some kind of danger or having a medical episode). So the consequences for the OP will be a long walk home.GingerTim said:

(I once got a lift home from the police after I'd helped deal with an emergancy. Due to time taken I'd missed the bus and they offered me a lift. A neighbour saw me arriving home in the police car and started a rumour I'd been arrested. If I am ever offered a lift by the police again, I will politely decline)1
