I spend money from my ISA by transferring cash in it from the ISA to my bank account. Like I suspect everyone else does.
Are you doing this as ISA is your source of income?Life in the slow lane0 -
I'm still confused by this thread.
Contactless isn't to do with paying into an ISA.
ISA is a savings account, to fund an ISA or any other savings account you need an existing bank account, then you move money to it.
So to fund from an existing account you use the details of the ISA, account number, sort code, reference etc using your existing current account or whatever.
App/online can make things easier to transfer if doing internally, otherwise slightly more of a pain if setting up from another account held elsewhere.0 -
Yes it is rather puzzling. I don't know if any banks have the facility, but you could feasibly pay into an ISA by entering your debit card number, however I really can't see what a card having a contactless facility has to do with that, nor with getting statements.0

Below is my understanding, can you let me know if this is correct?- You have 2 accounts. 1 is a current account, 1 is a Help to Buy ISA.
- You have not been doing what you used to do to manage your money for over a year due to ill health preventing that.
- You are concerned about having contactless ability on your debit card.
- You want to start again transferring money from your current account into your ISA as you have not done that in over a year.
- You believe that the new card is preventing you from transferring money from current account to your ISA and back again.
- You are using your card for online purchases.
- You do not do online banking via your banks website or mobile phone app.
Regarding point 3. Can you say what your objections/issues with contactless are?
Regarding point 4. How did you transfer money into your ISA before when you were making payments?
Currently my feeling is that any issues are solvable but that they are not the result of the bank's systems working incorrectly. My Debt free diary

I think answers to these two questions will help people understand the problem:
1. Which bank is the current account with?
2. Which bank is the ISA with?

I will never have an online bank account or a banking app!I do not want a contactless card as they can be cloned I do not see why I should spend my time ensuring money is not going out of my account and arguing over incorrect expenditure. A non-contactless card is of no extra effort to provide, on the other hand a contactless card IS why then should I be forced to have something that I have no use for, puts me in a greater risk and adds stress to my life?I use my bank card for paying my credit card, accessing my ISA and emergencies when I am out which I am now cash only. (I very much doubt I would have enough money for a taxi on me, so would have to call an ambulance. Got a lift off the police last time)Why you would need to know any of this to be able to say if you have a help to buy ISA that has not been accessed for over a year where I stand with it, I don't know? All I know is they have stopped sending me statements without warning.I take it, I am left with an account that I will have to pay for things with my credit card online and write checks and get cash from people I know then!0

It seems that your worries relate primarily to having a contactless card which you seem to think puts you at some kind of risk. But actually, really, it doesn't. Just use it like a normal card. Forget it is contactless.
If you're worried (but there's hardly any, probably no, need to be!) it will be read in your pocket/wallet/whatever, buy a metal case for it.
If the card is how you access your accounts, incl your ISA, in branch (as you say you don't use online banking or apps) then just use it in branch as if it's not contactless. That shouldn't be difficult.
You mention using a credit card instead - but the next replacement of that will also, probably, be contactless. You are going to have to come to terms with contactless! Millions of people use contactless millions of times a day, with no issues whatsoever. You can too.9
