Consumer rights delays to building materials

OP is this QDT? If so from their terms:
Goods supplied and paid for in full by clients are subject to QTD Terms EO & E and are only accepted by QTD as a ‘contract of sale’ once the goods have been dispatched. QTD reserves the right to refund the client in full all monies paid at its discretion.
If it's the you don't have a contract and can withdraw your offer any time until they despatch.

I believe that works in your favour @the_lunatic_is_in_my_head is more knowledgable.. I think they can quote the legislation off the top of their headpersrp said:
No, they did not. To be fair, on the invoice it does state 'Terms apply, please see website', but I do not have any email or physical materials with the T&Cs attached. The first time I was directed specifically to the T&Cs on their website was when I asked to cancel my order. They have also been upfront about the issue when it became clear that a delay might first happen, and have always been polite and professional. My main gripe is that each time I speak to them the delay gets further and further away, and when I spoke to their sales team prior to my order I specifically asked them if there were any delays and was told that my order would be in the next shipment (ie which I now realise was a clever way of not admitting to a known delay).Bradden said:Did they give you the T&C's in a durable format? If not that would help your case. To be fair to them if they did supply the T&C's they have been upfront with potential issues.

One thing not Consumer related as such
Can the Op source replacements any quicker.
Could the items be coming from the far east & as such stuck going the longway round due to Red Sea conflict.Life in the slow lane0 -
Yes, it's all well and good getting a refund. But the OP is likely to find themselves at the back of the queue with a new supplier. Before doing anything it would be best to check the general situation. It could be the current supplier is actually the fastest!born_again said:One thing not Consumer related as such

What would you actually achieve by cancelling the order? Any other supplier will probably have the same delivery problems and you will be behind by however many weeks ago the original order was placed. You may also find the price of timber will have increased substantially in the intervening weeks. There is a genuine shortage of all types of building materials.

Some timber prices have collapsed, in many cases I'm paying less than half the cost of two years ago.
If Op wanted an immediate replacement, Cedral cladding would be the obvious choice, there's no shortage and it's available everywhere. Of course, it's not a made-to-order timber product but would fulfil the same basic function...0 -
Thank you everyone for your advice. I'll go back to the supplier and report back if a success.
In regards to the question of what it will achieve - I've proposed using an alternative timber that they offer, but that was rejected, so I have tried to find a solution with them prior to attempting to cancel my order. I've since been to a local timber yard who are able to source similar to what we need, with a minimal turnaround.2
