Goldsmiths lost my watch

Help! Goldsmiths sent away my (rather expensive) watch for a service and have lost it. It was a present and holds sentimental value. The brand no longer do that watch and the nearest ‘like for like’ is triple the price. Where do I stand?

But they are only offering cash settlement at the moment so it would need to be what the OP would have to pay for it.

There is a potential argument to be had were they to offer a like for like replacement, the OP refuse it and say he wants cash instead.
