Best car rental for MCO Pickup.

Unwittingly my flight into Orlando airport is the day before Thanksgiving this year (it is a week later than normal).

My point is in previous arrivals it is pot luck what cars are available when you arrive at the car rental desk or to the rental car park, no matter how early or what you actually book and pay for.

Does anyone know which company is best at actually having what you book available -especially given my arrival will be late afternoon/early evening and I am anticipating utter madness at the airport.

My main concern is that We are travelling with a disabled adult and wheelchair and will book a car to accommodate those things   I will of course mention this upon booking but in my experience these things are often overlooked.

I've had fairly good experiences with Alamo at MCO (and elsewhere). If you are able to check in online and use their Skip The Counter option, you just go to the parking garage and select a car from the row of your vehicle class. Sometimes there can be a shortage of vehicles in a given class, but haven't yet experienced that at MCO. If you don't like what's there you can wait until more arrive, but timing for that won't be fixed. I don't know if they do anything different if you have specified that you're travelling with a disabled passenger (presume boot space, and possibly vehicle door access, are the main issues here).

There are now separate car rental desks and garages for several rental companies in the new(ish) Terminal C, which spreads the load a bit in terms of passenger volume (though I haven't yet used Terminal C myself). BA, Aer Lingus and JetBlue, among other airlines, use Term C, Virgin Atlantic and the main US carriers (AA, United, Delta) use the older Terminal A/B building.
  • Thank you. We use Virgin and have experience of the set up which is why I am concerned.  Quite a trek to pick up desk/ garage which will be even more difficult with a disabled family member. Late afternoon arrival. We have as you say been offered upgrades if no booked car available but as you say boot space and access limit our options.
  • For your specific needs, I'd recommend looking into Orlando Superior Transportation. They offer a pre-booking option, which means you can secure a vehicle tailored to your requirements well in advance. This helps alleviate the uncertainty you've experienced with other rental companies. Additionally, they often have less competitive rates compared to larger rental companies, making them a cost-effective choice. Moreover, they specialize in providing customized plans to accommodate various needs, including catering to disabled passengers and wheelchair accessibility. You can also check out their website for further information.
