Disney+ picture quality

I recently downgraded to the ‘standard’ option instead of premium because my tv is not capable of 4K so I didn’t see the point of paying extra. However, I immediately noticed a difference in picture quality. With the animated movies, it’s a dramatic difference. The picture looks dull in comparison and doesn’t stand out the way it did on the premium version. Could anyone help me understand how this is possible or am I imagining the whole thing?
I noticed in the descriptions that it mentions the premium option has ‘HDR’ and the standard option doesn’t. Having checked my tv manual it says it’s HD 1080P and HDR. Is this what’s making the difference?

HDR is only supported on Premium, its nothing to do with 4k.You'll probably get used to the picture quality after a bit and not notice it, much like videotape was often a horrible blurry mess but eventually you stopped noticing it...0

It won't make a difference to the picture quality per se but will make the picture look duller because the you dont have the higher contrast that HDR brings. The below is a mocked up example of a HDR picture -v- non-HDR
The quality is the same but the HDR image the colours are brighter giving a more appealing picture
This is particularly true in animated films which tend to use strong/bright colours compared to the real world.1 -
@DullGreyGuy Thank you. That’s exactly what I’ve been noticing. It’s like a dull sheen and the picture doesn’t ‘pop’ the way it used to. I’m very tempted to upgrade to premium again. I watch a lot of animation and it feels worth it having seen the difference.0

You could try adjusting your tvs picture colour settings, one might give enough of a positive adjustment to compensate.1

Go through the picture settings to see if the quality of the picture increases in one of the output colours in the menu. You could also try a manual adjustment to see if you can get a better picture quality.
Personally I wouldn't bother with the picture quality as you will eventually get used to it and will be saving money with the lower quality picture tone.Someone please tell me what money is1
