The scheme is legit, but there are guidelines on what will and won't be admissible. In general they require at least 2 minutes of video, 1 minute before and 1 minute after the reported event, so short clipped events won't generally be considered.
Police don't send out requests without something to go on so you need to follow due process.
So I have just received a police notification asking to identify a driver of my vehicle. Apparently they want to charge someone for driving without due care and attention on a certain date. It appears a member of the public has reported my vehicle with possible video footage being driven without due care and attention. It seems you can report another driver if you have photos or video evidence to the police for prosecution. Is this legit does anyone know? And like the police who have there camera equipment tested and of a certain specification, that doesn’t seem to apply to the public.
Op Snap is a real thing
what 'testing ' and 'caliabration' do you beleive a camera requires to corroberate an allegation of of DWDCA / Careless Drving ?
given that theoretically in the past said report could have resulted in summons if the MoP completed a statement or had a contemporaneous notes interview asa complainant / injured party with a Police Officer / Civi investigator ?
indeed i suspect they'll be whinging on p*nisheads, 'where speeding matters' bemoaning their prosecution to the other 'powerfully built company directors '
