I spent 5 years doing this a cyclist, dangerous close passes, red light running, wrong way down one way street, illegal turns etc, never got a response on any but WMP do seem to push a few looking at FOI requests. First one I did at the new office when walking there, of a guy ragging it up the wrong way up a one way street with just phone footage, police responded and said they were prosecuting!

At the very least, I hope some of these people like the driver who went through a red nearly hitting a pedestrian just so he could pull into his drive and probably had no clue about the red, get driver education plans to improve
    Are you this guy: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCm6g2GP912ku4lPd-155-Vw
Nah not cycling Mickey, though I did upload loads of them over time showing the drivers breaking the law

Amazingly people breaking the law and endangering riders and pedestrians are not good people to be on the road

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Seen a fair few of his video's, funny where one driver claimed to be in full control with his phone still in his hand he creeps
forward whilst still talking to mikey and scrapes his alloy wheels along the kerb.  Oh yeah full control (NOT).

But Mikey has his moments sometimes, makes mistakes as we all do but gets angry at the other person instead of
just saying I messed up there or we both messed up there.

Also shows how inconsistant the police are with prosecutions.

Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...

So I have just received a police notification asking to identify a driver of my vehicle. Apparently they want to charge someone for driving without due care and attention on a certain date. It appears a member of the public has reported my vehicle with possible video footage being driven without due care and attention. It seems you can report another driver if you have photos or video evidence to the police for prosecution. Is this legit does anyone know? And like the police who have there camera equipment tested and of a certain specification, that doesn’t seem to apply to the public.

You need to send for the photo evidence, if you are unable to recall the offence and/or it wasn't you driving

Any member of the public can report any crime, now we have dashcams and mobile 'phones driver prosecutions are easier because there is solid evidence.

If I'm walking on the pavement and someone thinks it is funny to drive through a deep puddle and soak me, I can report it, but the Police probably won't do anything, as the driver will just deny it anyway or claim it wasn't deliberate.
If the car behind him pulls over and offers to send me their dashcam footage, (or reports it to Operation Snitch themselves) then there is a lot more chance of a prosecution for careless driving, or at least the driver being inconvenienced in some way. (Plus I could claim reasonable cleaning fees from them...)

You would hope that The Police would sort out blatant disregard for the rules from an honest mistake....
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

Footage is submitted with a full declaration by the person doing so. The additional telementary data that's with the footage also provides irrefutable evidence.

The police are under no obligation to provide the evidence.

A charge of careless or inconsiderate driving doesn't need proof of intent.

Indeed they're not. You are not entitled to any evidence at this stage. And if you do not word your request sensitively the may simply proceed to prosecute you for "failing to provide driver's details." You should ask for "any photographs which may help identify the driver." They are not obliged to provide them (and may not even have any). You should also note that such a request does not stop the 28 day clock measuring the deadline by which you must reply.

I think in many of these cases the police will merely "have a word" with the driver rather than refer for prosecution. Depends on the seriousness of the alleged offence and quality of evidence - like any other crime really.

The OP hasn't heard what they hoped to hear.

    I don't think they'll be back...
