Ryanair & pushchairs

I hope this isn't too much of a dumb question! I gather we can check our pushchair in with Ryanair but does it count as part of our luggage allowance? The website doesn't seem to make it clear! Does anybody know?

I've only flown with them once with a pram and it wasn't included in our luggage allowance. We kept our son in it until boarding and then ground staff took it and loaded it onto the plane.

  • Dont think it will be counted as luggage allowence but i would give them a call and ask just incase.

Just going slightly off topic a bit can i just make it clear to everyone who takes pushchairs on planes that its not always possible to get the pushchair off the plane and waiting for you at the bottom of the steps for when you disembark. You will quite often have to get it off the carousel with all the other luggage.

Please dont get all shirty with the cabin crew or ground staff about this.

The reason is that there are different Rules about who can or can not go into certain types of aircraft holds. If the person that meets the plane is allowed to get into that type of hold then they will get it out for you, if they cant then they wont and we then have to wait for the baggage handlers to come and do it and that can take time so you then have to go to the baggage collection.

Im just having a rant about it not wanting to offend anybody but i had to say something!
  • we flew with Ryanair in April and they took the pram from us at the steps of the aircraft and when we arrived they were waiting for us with our pram. We thought it was excellent service being a low cost airline

We flew with Ryanair with a pushchair and although we saw the pushchair being unloaded from the plane, it never made it to the luggage carousel!!!! To be fair Ryanair lent us another pushchair and our original one was sent by courier a week or so later.

We flew with Ryanair in March. Waited ages on the tarmac as our buggy was nowhere to be seen. Asked the baggage handlers and told there were no more to be unloaded. Finally the penny dropped......there was a tatty looking buggy still waiting for an owner, obviously our brand new buggy had been nicked! Nothing at all Ryanair could have done about it, and no blame at all to them , but the moral is to make sure you are off the plane as quickly as possible, we had waited til last because we had the baby to consider.

With the exception of a pram or buggy (which is carried free of charge), Infants do not have a baggage allowance and therefore any infant equipment such as car seats and travel cots must be included in the accompanying adult's baggage allowance upon payment of a baggage fee per item, per one way flight

Baby buggies, wheelchairs, mobility scooters and walking frames are carried free of charge.
